I use the free non-profit web portal Khan Academy for my Adult High School night classes. It helps those students who need more refresher classes, and also those students who are ready to skip ahead of where I am in the lectures, so that I can focus on creating one lesson plan and then work individually with other students who need in-person attention. I also use KA activities as on-line worksheets, and for students who cannot make it to class due to work, surgery, car-accidents, family emergencies, etc.
Because my students can use the app with or without registering, it makes their lives easier, and facilitates my sending them assignments for things like Learn Storm, which helps them above and beyond their content and test-taking studies.

I am still in a precarious situation myself, and so am currently unable to donate, but I will dare to ask you, my dear readers, if you are able, to please give just a bit of your abundance, to help me and my students build a better society, a kinder society, and a better, kinder, safer world for all of us.

the aim: Fully Inclusive Equality.

The Goals (allowing each person to contribute fully):

1. Each person, as a child, must learn to swim (or at least float).
2. Each child must learn emotional/psychological self-defense and physical self-defense to the greatest extent possible, in a Gandhian context.

3. Each child, at birth, receives half a hectare of land, non-alienable. He or she may rent, lend or swap the land, but always remains the owner. Where ever the location, it should have a well and be arable.
4. Fresh water for ever person (free!)
5. Each family should have a book in the local public library, containing the autobiography of every adult in the family (which means that each person needs free time and the means to write his or her autobiography).

Las Metas (para que todos pueden contribuir lo mejor):

1. Cada quien, de niño, debe aprender nadar
2. Que cada quien de niño aprende defenderse
3. Que cada bebe, al nacer, recibe .5 hectarios de terreno, que nunca se puede desprender. Se lo puede alquilar o prestar, pero siempre sigue esta persona como dueño o dueña del terreno. Que sea donde sea, será con un poso de agua y capaz de agricolar.

Teaching UUs in CA

This JuneChurchCampClassesTaughtPlans is my lesson plan from the All-Church camp held in June, 1-3rd, up in the mountain camp called DeBenneville Pines, north of San Diego, CA.  I wanted to teach Greek Folk Dance, and I also responded to a request for someone to teach on Family History, thus also fulfulling my duty via WikiTree to connect others to our Human Family Tree.

These two journal entries highlight the abusive marriage, started with false promises, ending with escalating physical abuse.

I did not realize this until a neighbor pointed out that I indeed had the right to go out, to have access to money, and to have gotten free French lessons despite the transportation difficulties -in fact the city was a mere 15 minute drive, which spouse did not want to do.

From mild emotional and verbal and financial abuse to ratcheting up the pressure when I insisted on getting help.

Then it got worse emotionally and physically.

And by about a year or so later this second act of physical abuse was being denied. So, remember to save your emails.

Here is an email exchange, names edited, just after the second shaking incident occurred, where he admits to having shaken me a second time, but blames me.

Como el subsecretario Salvador Martí del Ministerio del Tiempo, ojala que habîan màs funcionarios que nos darîan el buen ejemplo de usar los transportes publicos. A menudo, la falta de transporte publico llega hasta faltar las citas medicas y legales, con consequencia de perder los procesos judiciales que no han de perder, si la persona endeudada hubiera podido llegar a la corte para defender sus derechos.
A corto plazo, otros estados de los EEUU podrîan seguir el ejemplo del estado de Maryland, que ha prohibido las acciónes civiles por parte de colectores de deudas ya pasado la fecha limite segûn el tipo de deuda. Mientras tanto, a largo plazo, reconstruimos nuestra estructura economica para crear la igualdad en vez de crear la pobreza. Los dos puntos de vista, corto y largo plazo, nos urge.

Would that more of our public officials, like subsecretary Salvador Marti of The Ministry of Time, set the example of using public transportation. Lack of transportation often leads to default judgement on an expired debt which could have been avoided, had the debtor been able to defend in court.
Over the short-term, states could follow the example of Maryland, and prohibit lawsuits on all expired debts, while also rebuilding our economic structures to create equity rather than poverty, over the long-term. Both short-term and long-term approaches are needed, urgently.

Nazlı is behind bars for arriving in Greece without the proper paperwork, but the same thing can happen to a US citizen in many states for also not having the proper paperwork: debt caused by lack of healthcare, for instance. In both cases, putting a person who has not been convicted of a crime behind bars can result from simply not having enough money to pay medical bills, leading to a worsening spiral of debt which affects us all. The simplest solutions would be to halt the practice of Body Attachment, in the short-term, and enact a Single Payer System of Universal Healthcare in the longer term. The first requires action on a state-by-state basis, at least at the moment. Both short-term and long-term approaches are needed, immediately.
